Certified Flooring Inspector Servicing The Carolinas & Georgia
Selva “Lee” Tucker is an independent, unbiased flooring inspector backed by 50 years in the flooring trade –– not manufacturer-funded opinions.
FOUNDER OF THE FLOORING INSPECTORS GUILD
About Lee Tucker
Selva “Lee” Tucker has spent 51 years in the flooring trade, the last 39 as a full-time, full-scope flooring inspector. Starting as a commercial installer in 1975, he moved into full-time inspection by 1988 and has since earned certifications spanning carpet, resilient, wood, laminate, and concrete moisture testing from organizations including FCITS, NWFA, NOFMA, CTEF, and NALFA. In 2007, he founded The Flooring Inspectors Guild to give the next generation of inspectors science-based training beyond a one-week certification course — hosting its first class at NC State University in 2009. Today, he's both Certified and Peer Reviewed, nominated and vetted by fellow inspectors for his experience, honesty, and knowledge.

Inspection & Consultation
Independent inspection and consultation covering hardwood, carpet, tile, resilient flooring, concrete, and subfloor conditions — documented in a report with testing data and photo evidence identifying the cause of the failure and a recommended solution.
Carpet Color Correction, Spot, and Side Match
Correcting color loss, staining, and fading in carpet — from bleach spots to sun-faded areas — using dye-matching techniques that restore a consistent, uniform color without replacing the whole carpet.
Expert Witness Testimony
Certified documentation and expert witness testimony for attorneys, insurance adjusters, and courts. I provide well-reasoned, clearly explained opinions grounded in industry standards for litigation, arbitration, and insurance disputes.
Continuing Education
Ongoing, science-based training for flooring inspectors and industry professionals through The Flooring Inspectors Guild. Get the same standard of education Lee brings to every inspection he performs himself.
Who I Work With
-
Independent evidence when a new or existing floor starts cupping, buckling, cracking, or gapping — a certified report you can use to pursue a refund, replacement, or repair.
-
A neutral third-party assessment when a customer complains about a floor failure, determining whether the cause is a product defect, an installation error, or environmental factors like humidity.
-
Liability protection — an independent inspection that can clear an installer's name when a floor failure was actually caused by a manufacturing defect or pre-existing moisture condition.
-
Warranty verification — a localized, credentialed inspection to confirm whether a product genuinely failed before a warranty claim is honored.
-
Expert witness testimony and certified documentation for court cases and insurance settlements, from an inspector with decades of litigation and arbitration experience.
Certification Is Not a License
A flooring certification is not a government-issued license. No federal, state, county, or city government in the United States licenses flooring inspectors the way it licenses electricians, plumbers, architects, or engineers. Lee's qualifications come from decades of hands-on experience (50+ years in the flooring industry, 38+ as a full-time inspector) combined with continuing education that goes well beyond a one-week certification course.
What Is a Peer Reviewed Inspector?
The Flooring Inspectors Guild maintains a directory of trusted, Peer Reviewed flooring inspectors nationwide. Inspectors are nominated by their peers for their experience, honesty, and knowledge of the trade, then vetted by a panel of senior inspectors before acceptance. Lee Tucker holds this designation himself, and founded the Guild that awards it.
What Clients Say
“I have worked with Lee Tucker of Tucks Floor Inspection Service on multiple matters. Mr. Tucker’s knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail are exceptional. His opinions are well-reasoned, clearly explained, and firmly grounded in industry standards, which makes them highly effective in both litigation and arbitration settings. I would not hesitate to retain or recommend Mr. Tucker in future cases involving flooring installation issues.”
– Allen Bullard, Montgomery Willard
“I would just like to give a heads up to Selva Lee Tucker, who is a professional floor inspector. I recently had the pleasure of meeting him during my recent home inspection. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and proficient in his line of work. I truly appreciated the time he spent and the information he shared about the care of wood floors. He went above and beyond to hear my complaints and to address each one individually. HIs attention to detail immediately told me I was in good hands as a consumer. I believe that because of his inspection, I received a very positive result from both Mohawk Flooring regarding my warranty claim. Mohawk has honored their warranty and Greer Flooring is facilitating the new installation. I could not possibly be more pleased with this outcome. Thank You to all involved.”
